The Oman International Conference on Accounting and Auditing was organized by the Oman Society of Chartered Accountants, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al‑Yousuf, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, with over 400 participants and 24 speakers from various countries.
Mahfouz bin Ali Al‑Juma’a, President of the Oman Society of Chartered Accountants, emphasized that the Society strives to strengthen its role in Oman by becoming a professional reference that contributes to the development of the accounting and auditing profession and advancing its services.
Dr. Mohammed bin Mustafa Al‑Najjar, Director General of Training at the Ministry of Labour, stated that the conference would contribute to the exchange of expertise, which would positively impact the development of the accounting and auditing professions, as well as enhance the skills and competencies of professionals in the sector.
The conference will present a number of working papers addressing the impact of professional accounting bodies on the advancement of the accounting, auditing, and finance professions, as well as international standards for quality management, global perspectives on taxation, and governance practices in sports clubs, youth centers, and cultural institutions.
Tally Solutions for Oman, by Infinity Thoughts LLC, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Oman Association of Chartered Accountants (OACPA) regarding accounting, finance and ERP Software. The agreement was signed on behalf of Infinity Thoughts LLC by Mr. Tabrez Iqbal, Managing Director, and on behalf of OACPA by Sheikh Mahfoudh bin Ali bin Jumah Al-Jumah, President of the Association.
A strategic partnership was signed between the Oman Association of Chartered Accountants (OACPA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
In alignment with Oman Vision 2040 and with the support of the Ministry of Labour, the Omani Association of Chartered Public Accountants has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the efficiency and ethical standards of the accounting profession. As part of this commitment, the Association has signed a strategic agreement with the leading CleanSheet Group to verify the authenticity of academic and professional certificates in the field of accounting, as well as the credibility of the issuing institutions.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation has signed a cooperation agreement with the Oman Association of Chartered Accountants (OACPA) in the fields of accounting, finance, and auditing. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Her Excellency Dr. Mona bint Salem Al-Jardania, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation for Vocational Training, and on behalf of OACPA by Sheikh Mahfoudh bin Ali bin Jumah Al-Jumah, President of the Association.
Dr. Mona Al-Jardania praised the anticipated collaboration between the two parties, which will contribute to the development of academic and professional performance in vocational colleges in the fields of accounting, finance, and auditing, as well as the alignment of higher education and vocational training outcomes in accounting, finance, and auditing within the Sultanate of Oman with international standards. In turn, Sheikh Mahfoudh bin Ali bin Jumah Al-Jumah stated, “We are pleased to sign this agreement, which will contribute to enhancing cooperation with the Ministry to improve the outcomes and ethics of the accounting and auditing profession in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.”
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, along with OACPA, aims to activate the professional accreditation system and issue professional competency cards and licenses to practice the profession. OACPA will propose training programs for staff in vocational colleges, private training institutions, and private higher education institutions, as well as develop human resources in the fields of accounting, finance, and auditing to enhance the competence of national cadres.
Based on the agreement, the Ministry will recognize OACPA as a consultative body for technical advice on training programs in accounting, finance, and auditing offered by private higher education institutions, vocational colleges, and private training institutions.
The agreement also outlines the exchange of informational expertise between the two parties, the sponsorship and organization of workshops, seminars, and conferences, and cooperation in training areas for accounting, finance, and auditing. Additionally, there will be joint organization of meetings and visits to vocational colleges, private training institutions, and private higher education institutions, as well as workshops to raise student awareness of accounting standards and recent updates.
Furthermore, OACPA is committed to providing the necessary consultations to develop the higher education and vocational training system and enhance professional standards and their applications in accounting, finance, and auditing as needed. The Association will also present its views and proposals for the development of the professional and certification qualification system.
In August 2021, the Ministry of Labour granted the Oman Association of Chartered Accountants (OACPA) the license to host the Sectoral Skills Unit for the accounting, finance, and auditing sector.
The unit plays a pivotal role in developing a sustainable skills development system based on the needs of the accounting, finance, and auditing sector. According to the established plan, the unit aims to enhance the efficiency of sector outputs and the workforce by training and developing human resources in line with labor market needs and requirements. This is achieved by engaging the sector in the preparation and development of national professional standards, which are translated into qualification frameworks, from which curricula and training programs are derived to elevate sector outcomes.
